You Are 50% Burned Out |
![]() You’re fairly burned out, and it shows. You probably have been feeling a little rundown and irritable lately. If you can, drop a few of your minor responsibilities and focus on what’s really important. You have too much on your plate, and it’s catching up with you. |

Hey, Six Months Ago, It Would Have Been 100%
-
Much more like it . . .
OK, so Saturday was a great anodyne for Friday. I had to work for a while in the morning getting performance reviews done to deliver to my team next week. But, then Mom and I went down to the Home Depo Expo to look at stuff. We just kinda wandered around looking at kitchen counter-tops, ceramic floor tiles, carpet, cook-tops, etc., etc., etc. She’s got fabulous taste and can visualize things in her head much better than I can. I’m pretty pleased that she agreed the counter-top I had tentatively chosen would look great in my kitchen, and we had some fun looking for floor tiles that would match and be able to spread through the laundry room, storage closet and bathroom near the kitchen. Talked to some of the sales staff and found out that if you spend more than $5,000 there, they assign you an interior designer to pull everything together for you, including supervising Home Depot’s contractors (they have 18 designers on staff, and you can switch out until you find someone you like). I may just go in for that – the gods know I’m going to be spending at least that. Sat in a few bathtubs to see if they’d be as deep as I want and cringed at the prices. Jeez – do people really pay $5,000 for a bathtub? Not this girl. My cheap and miserly soul just won’t allow me to do it when I know I can get something for less than a $1,000. Am I unreasonable in thinking even that’s too much? Although I guess once you factor in the whirlpool jets and in-line heater, I suppose it’s not totally unreasonable.
We also hit Perth street to see if Mom could find some belting she needs to make tote bags for a
project she’s doing. I don’t know the details, but Dad’s a Village
Councilman for Angelfire, NM, and the project has something to do with
the village. No dice, but we ran into some friends in the first fabric store and had a nice chat. At Michelle’s suggestion, we then hit a couple of the Hancock’s that are closing. We found all the belting Mom needed, minus 10 yards, which she can pick up at Walmart. She’s now WAY under budget for the project and will be able to do a couple of things she had had to drop because of cost. I made out like a bandit by finding a dress form on sale for 50% off and snagging it under the noses of some of those “women at a sale” everyone jokes about (when I took it off the top of the file cabinet it was on, three other women immediately cornered the poor sales guy asking if there were any more of them to be had – the answer was NO and I got some dirty looks).I’m going to play on my computer some today, loading up some programs I’ve bought and trying to get my wireless network laser printer to talk to my computer. I’ll probably play with my house plans some too. A few weeks ago, I went through the house and measured *everything* for redecorating and rearranging purposes. It’ll be fun to turn that into a scale model floorplan I can use for estimating costs for my redecorating project. I can be such a geek.
