  • What a Weekend!

MiniCooperChic recently had the good fortune to achieve a milestone birthday, and this weekend was the celebration with her friends.  We started out Saturday morning at 10am with breakfast, coffee and mimosa.  That segued into Stars hockey with something like 20 people, dinner at Luna de Noche, dessert and wine at Chocolate Secrets, and great conversation back at MCC’s house.  I gave it up shortly after midnight and went on home to get some sleep.  Then, we did breakfast again this morning (yay mimosa!) with the smaller group of out-of-towners who crashed at MCC’s house for the weekend.  I really love these people; they bring home to me how very, very lucky I am in my life!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to downtown Dallas and the Victory Park area where the Stars play in the American Airlines Center.  My god but it’s grown!  I swear all of those high-rise glass buildings sprouted in the past six months.  There’s a ton of stuff down there now, and I’m going to have to find the time to go explore.  Looks like there’s shops, restaurants and museums everywhere now.  Very cool.

Well, now for a day of laundry and house-cleaning.  In between, I’m working on a training presentation I’m giving Monday night at 10:00pm to our Australian/Hong Kong/Singapore/China teams.  And, I absolutely *have* to sandwich an hour or so of yoga in there somewhere.  Ta ta for now!

  • Protected Postings

I can’t believe I only just figured out that you can “protect” postings so that only the people you designate can read your posting.  One of the reasons I don’t write much is that I don’t care to publish some things widely, although I don’t mind some folks knowing.  Of course, the problem with protected postings is that they don’t get included in the digest emails sent out to people, so the only way you can read them is if you either go to my actual weblog page or use the “protected posts” tab on your Subscription page.  Since most people use the digest emails, that means not everyone you want to inform will read your posts.  Oh well, at least I can vent in writing now.

  • Tagged.

5th sentence of p. 123 of the closest book at hand, plus the next three sentences…

Leith remained an independent burgh until the 20th century.  Fans of Irvine Welsh (author of Trainspotting) probably know that the area has a rough and tumble reputation.  But, today, most of its shipping and the sailors have gone, and lots of luxury apartments are being built instead.  Still, Leith carries reminders of evocative maritime past and offers a good selection of seafood restaurants and nautical-themed pubs.

Everyone I know has already been tagged!
