  • Red letter day – stop the presses!  I’m actually writing in my Xanga journal again!  Woo hoo!

OK, now that the excitement is over, I don’t really have much to
say.  I’ve been battling a nasty head cold since Sunday evening,
so I’ve been pretty grumpy overall.  Part of it is because there
is too much going on a work to just take a couple of days off to
sleep.  Sigh.  I’m already tired of my boss being out on
maternity leave, and she’s not coming back for another three
months.  On the up side, because she’s out and I’m filling in for
her, I got a copy of our department’s budget for next year and saw that
she has some very nice plans for me next year, both position and
money-wise.  So, I guess I can forgive her for leaving me stranded
    for three months!

Mom is in town visiting this week (that means dinner ready when I get
home every night!).  She has an opthamologist’s appointment
tomorrow, so Dad and she drove in Monday night and he went on to
Houston Tuesday to go hunting with my brother.  Mom will fly home
Saturday, and Dad will drive home next Monday/Tuesday.  It’s hard
to keep track of them, they travel so much.  It’s nice to have her
visit.  She’s getting up there in age (73), so I’m trying to
treasure the times we have together.  I guess I’m incredibly lucky
that we enjoy spending time together – so many people I know don’t get
    along with their families.

OK, gonna go find a tissue and blow my nose now.  Then, take a
Benadryl and try not to fall asleep too early.  If I crawl into
bed with the heating pad, though, the cats will both come up to
cuddle.  That’s a nice way to fall asleep, with two fur bundles
purring away at my sides.  With the sleet coming down tonight,
    that’ll be nicely comforting.

  • Red letter day indeed!

    Congrats on the budget

  • Yay, you exist! ;)

We got to sleep with all 4 cats last night…one on my head, one on G’s hip, one curled up under the covers near her tummy and one on my feet. Was a nice way to spend the night…one of the many reasons I like winter. ;)

  • I’ve missed you!

So – I imagine I should get used to these types of disappearances too, huh?

  • Nothing better than warm kitty cats in the winter. Ok, in the summer too…

I have a great relationship with my mom, too- and yep, I feel lucky for that since not too many folks do.

  • Um… Monkey-girl? What ARE you smoking? A warm kitty can’t compare to a warm girl and a quilt in the winter.

  • I agree with SR, there. =)  Welcome back to Xangaland, Miss Maggie - hope you feel better soon.

  • Thanks SR and MCC – feeling much better now and actually remembering to post occasionally! And, hey, if there ain’t no warm girl (or boy) available, warm, purring kitty cats are ever so much better than none!
