  • Sigh, kinda poignant that my last entry said I’m 25 years old.
Had my mumbledy seventh birthday yesterday.  MiniCooperChic took
me to lunch and gave me two lovely gifts, a gift certificate for a
local shop that sells semi-precious stones and glass beads for
jewelry-making, and the greater gift of her time, laughter and
friendship.  I got calls from D&O and several friends from
work to wish me happy birthday as well.  I paid a visit to my boss
and got to cuddle her 3-week old baby boy.  I’ve been incredibly
fortunate in my life, blessed with good health (except when
occasionally interrupted by drunk drivers), a great family and
fantastic friends.  Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ultimately have to
repay all my good fortune somehow, some day.  The thought doesn’t
really scare me, but I realize how hard I’ll have to work and how much
I’ll need to give back to do so!

This evening I went to a housewarming party for some friends, who are finally
reaping the rewards of many years of perseverance.  They found a
great place on a huge lot and have been working to paint, decorate,
etc.  Love the color scheme and plans for the study!  It was
wonderful listening to T as he described the great job he’s found and
the opening path to his future there.  There’s something uniquely
satisfying about seeing people you care for happy and
enthusiastic!  And, I found that someone else I really like turns
out to be related to me – a cousin of some sort we think!  With
our intricately intertwined Italian families, it’s hard to figure out
just where the connection is.  I’ll put Mom on it next week when I
get to Angel Fire – how she remembers the connections between hundreds
and hundreds of relatives, I’ll never understand.

After the housewarming party, I went by H’s open house (which he holds
every year).  The place was packed!  W and C were there, so
we got to have a nice long chat.  W says he’s actually going to
12th Night and maybe Coronation and Queen’s.  People are gonna
fall over in shock!  It will be nice to see him out again.
Unfortunately, C really has no interest at all in getting involved
again, so it will just be W.

Well, I’m just taking a break in my power shopping day.  I’ve got
to finish all my Christmas shopping this afternoon.  Made a good
start this morning, came home to drop some stuff off, and now I’m off
again!  I love Christmas and New Year’s, but I hate, hate, hate
facing the crowds to do my shopping.  Yay for Amazon.com and other
online stores – at least it cuts down on the time I have to spend
fighting very rude people who seem to forget just why they’re out there
anyway.  Oh well, all that will be washed away once I’m with
    family and friends again.
