My life can finally get back to something approaching normal. The agreement has finally been signed and the announcement made. My company is being sold, a project I’ve been spending way, way too much time on since March. Now, the burden of work falls on the HR department and our acquiror – I can get some rest. I’m taking some time off in the coming weeks, although I won’t get to take a full week until the beginning of September, when the transaction actually closes. So far, it looks like I’m still going to have a job. I met the guy who the legal department reports to, and he indicated that he was going to be restructuring the department to include me and our other lawyer. Not that it will be calamitous if they decide they don’t need me. They have oh-so-definitely made it worth my while to stay until the transaction closes. To not have to go looking for a job at that time will just be icing on the cake.
This weekend I’ve been revelling in dozing on the couch and finally going to see Pirates of the Caribbean. Tonight we’re going to see Clerks 2, which should be pretty silly. I refuse to stay at work past 5:30 any evening in the upcoming week. Well, actually, I’ll probably stay till 6:00 since I won’t be getting in until 9:00, after I go work out. I have got to start working out again, something I’ve just been too exhausted to do lately. Gotta try to make sure I don’t make that choice again – it’s too easy to slip into the habit of choosing work over my health. Sounds stupid when you say it that way, but my sense of responsibility just seems to get directed outward rather than inward.
D is going to be staying over at my house for the next few days so that she can check out the commute from my neighborhood to downtown. She’s looking to buy a new house soon and wants an idea of what living up here will mean. I’m looking forward to having her here. As with everyone else, I haven’t been able to spend any time with her, and it will be nice to have evenings to catch up and make plans.
Hey, maybe I’ll even write in my blog occasionally. Who knows?

Interestingly, Pirates and Clerks were the 2 movies *I* saw this weekend. Great minds and all that, I guess.
The Western Knight says “Good for you!” that you can get some time to yourself now! You’ve been working hard!
