  • Ugh – got a jury duty summons for June 11th.  I really hate these, and not because I’m not willing to serve on a jury.  I hate them because I go and spend an entire day there and *never* get picked.  And never will get picked.  There’s not a prosecutor or defense lawyer out there that wants another lawyer on their jury (or very few anyway).  I always get struck, but usually only after spending an entire day sitting on uncomfortable benches.  Sigh.  I have to ask for a waiver anyway – I’ll be at Lilies on June 11th.  So, I get to postpone the misery for another day.  Oh well.

  • The WK pined for years to be chosen for jury duty, but realized it would be an unfulfilled dream once he passed the bar. :o ) The BR is apathetic towards jury duty; it’s not something she’s anxious to take on, but it’s not something that she’s anxious to avoid. :o ) So far she’s been summoned a few times, but never has had to do anything. I think it’s only people who abhor the thought of having to serve on a jury that ever get chosen. :o )

  • A letter took weeks to find its way to me recently. This letter was asking me to appear at the Federal District court in Houston for possible Grand jury selection. By the time I got the reply in the mail stating that I no longer lived in Texas, the date had passed. Yay.

  • I have served, and the last time I was called, actually seated. But then the lawyer noticed that they were in the wrong venue, and thus I am protected for two years.
But Tarrant county does it differently than other places I have lived.
Good luck, and be careful about parking. It can cost you more than the $6. As can lunch.

  • Last time I served it was for a murder trial. It was both interesting and boring. You can read about it here http://robinanderson.livejournal.com/3960.html

  • I despise the notion of jury duty, as I do all forms of conscription service. They didn’t need my help writing the law, or enforcing it, now suddenly I have to take time out of my busy life to help administer it? Bollocks.

Have fun at Lillies Monday June 11th, I’ll be busy getting MARRIED that day!

    Ciao.
